Art Exhibition Review

Last Thursday the 29th of August, I went to the Worser Bay School Art Exhibition. It was a great event! The work was amazing; ranging in size and scale; the sculptures with their bright vibrant colours were a standout for me. Also a stand out, the creativity displayed sculptures. Of particular interest to me was a piece called ‘Sensation’ by Thanh. It was a wire made wine bottle and glass with red string connecting them together to look like red wine being poured. Even though it wasn’t kinetic, it still had that sort of feel about it. The cleverness behind this idea was something new and I’m sure all ages would have enjoyed this piece. Another great piece was a piece by Wilbur called ‘Coloured Snow’. It was in the shape of a water wheel flipped on its side with coloured balls bobbing on the bottom. The thing that made this piece unique for me were the bold colours - they reminded me of a circus. Most of the art was inspired by Alexander Calder’s big shapes, and Len Lye’s kinetic work. Most of the sculptures were kinetic and all sculptureswere made out of recycled materials. Another great thing about the evening was the release of the new wine labels designed by Worser Bay School students. The creativity and effort put in made them look top quality. The music was wonderful, it gave the show a lot of atmosphere. The silent auction was great and was a good reason to stay till the end. Overall, a great experience and very highly recommended.
