Portraits!

We have been doing a lot of drawing, sketching each other, our teachers and even ourselves! 

The rules are simple:

• Use 1000 lines
• Keep a soft hand
• Draw what you see, not what you think you see or how you have drawn in the past
• Don't be careful!

We are enjoying the results.

We are going to have a go at painting members of our family next.  Ambitious? Why not!

Sketching - Gearing up for the Arts Celebration

 

We are gearing up for our Arts Celebration. As part of our Inquiry rotations, we are learning to sketch. In this session, we sketched people in lots of different ways. Some examples are that we used '1000 lines,' sketched with our non-dominant hand, sketched people upside down, we used different mediums and looked closely at people's faces. Ask us about this at home... 

Year 3 Transition into the Matariki and Mahutonga space: Portraits

On Friday we had a transition day. the Year 3 students spent a day in the Matariki/ Mahutonga space. We had a chance to get to work with students and teachers that we will be learning alongside next year. 

We did an Inquiry into Portraits. We looked at some famous portraits and looked at similarities and differences between these. We did an investigation into the Maths of the face, thinking about proportions.

Inspirational People Portraits

Our students have been writing biographies about people that inspire them. These people have used their power to influence positive change. Our students have created portraits to represent their inspirational person.
