Travelling Tale- Danger on the Coral Reef

"Danger on the Coral Reef" is a new #globalgoals inspired digital story created by 4 different classes from around the world. Students from the USA, New Zealand and Vietnam collaborated to create this story with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goal #14.

Being Connected: Travelling Tales

During lockdown, some of our students were involved in Travelling Tales. Students were allocated a section of the story to write and illustrate. After they finished their part, it was passed on to the next student. What a great way to demonstrate our learner attribute of "being connected." 

In the past, we have been involved in Travelling Tales with other schools across the globe created by Joel Bevans.

A Travelling Tale: Kirill and the Dragon

This is a Travelling Tale: Kirill and the Dragon. It was created by 5 schools from around the world.

Beginning: Grade 2 EAL students: The American International School of Vilnius, Lithuania

Amazing global collaboration and story telling!

We used the Story Mountain as a model to our tale. It helps students to brainstorm ideas about characters, setting and key vocabulary. 

As part of our 4 learner attributes we aim to develop connectedness. Travelling tales is a great way for us to connect with our peers and also with students globally.

We started this tale. It got sent on to other schools around the world and created a unique tale for a global audience.

Waterslide Chaos: Travelling Tales

This is our first Travelling Tale of the year. This Travelling Tale was created by 5 schools around the world. It started in the USA then it was passed onto a class in the Netherlands then Canada, Ethiopia and finally to us here in New Zealand. Thank you to all of the students who helped to create this. 

Bob the Sheepdog

This is the story of Bob the Sheepdog. This time, we wrote the build up to the story. Jan, Alastair and Peter took the lead with this.

Dave the Chicken: Travelling Tales

This is a Travelling Tale named "Dave the Chicken" created by 5 schools from around the world. This was made by students from schools in Bahrain, USA, Columbia and New Zealand.  

Students from the senior area at Worser Bay School created the beginning of the story. 

This was the beginning of the story written by Alastair: Once there was a chicken called Dave. Dave liked bread and silver beat. Dave lived in a farm with 700 other chickens. There owner was fat and liked staying in bed and eating chocolates. One day Percy the cow accidentally stood on Rosie the crow. And the farmer threw a news paper at her.

Mitchell the Mischievous Monkey: Travelling Tale

We have been involved in this travelling tale called "Mitchell the mischievous monkey". 

Travelling Tales is a club designed to connect children to other schools so they can collaborate to create short stories to share with the world." This tale has been to schools in New Zealand, Vietnam, Poland and United States of America.

Nicola's base group came up with the title and the beginning of the story.
