For our writing this week we have been retelling Maori myths. Here is one written by Lucas... Maui and the Fish
Maui slowly paddled downstream. His waka pulled to a stop. Maui flung his line out into the deep blue sea. He took a deep breath, sat down and started to read the daily newspaper. There was a sharp tug on the line. He started heaving the fishing line out. A dark outline of the fish could be seen as the fish began floating up. Up until this day, the shape of the fish is known as the North Island.
