Summer

We had a fantastic week writing poems about summer and sun. We used visualisation and imagery to help us paint rich pictures of our summer experiences. These are our poems we like to share:
Summer
I can smell the air.
I can hear the waves  splashing and crashing.
The birds are singing at the beach.
The sun is shining on the sand.
I can see the fish swimming around the sea.

Summer

Diving into the waves.

Water washing past my face.

The hot water past my head.

The struggle to eat our iceblocks.

Next day.

Driving out in our boat.

Fishing.

Catching fish.

Putting some back into the sea.

Lying on the sand.

Sun roasting us.

Next day.

Driving home.

Getting into bed.

Sailing with my Dad.

Going in.

Packing up.

The smell of green trees.

What do we know about Patterns?

Welcome to week 5 in Matariki!
At Worser Bay School we have begun an exciting new inquiry into patterns. We have been busy identifying patterns, and working out what is a pattern and what isn't. Last week Mahutonga and Matariki drew patterns in the sand at Worser Bay Beach. The beach was fizzing and humming as everyone collaborated, negotiated and discussed the patterns they were making.

Our Self Portraits

Matariki's Self Portraits on PhotoPeach
Rounding off the treaty inquiry we have agreed on  some basic principles on how we want to be  treated.  These principles took  shape over the past few weeks which steered the class treaty in a positive direction.  Four flags emerged representing each team/tribe respectfully to a great game of capture the flag.

our flag

First we had to design a flag. We all got to do our own design. All we had to then was chose what flag to would be our flag. We did this by voting

Ivy + Bean

Ivy and Bean are  completely two different  girls who never meant to like each other.
One day Bean met  Ivy.
For Bean Ivy was weird. For Ivy Bean was weird.
Maybe Bean's mother was right.
Could they be friends? Best friends.
