There came a day- Poetry

We have been reading and writing different poems. We read the poem There Came A Day and we made our own versions of the poem.

Here are some of our poems...

The wintery day by Angelina

There came a day
that was wet and had snow
It was crazy for winter
frosty and cold
freezing and mad

what will we do with the trees?
said the day, said the day
we will sprinkle them with snow
said the day, said the day

what will we do with the ground
said the day, said the day
we will cover it with ice
said the day, said the day

what will we do with the leaves?
said the day, said the day
we will make them fall off
and make them crunch under my feet
that is what we will do

There came a day by Millicent

And what shall I do with the darkness
the day said, the day said
wake them up and give them a cup
I hope it does not make them blow up
And what shall I do with the stars?
the day said, the day said
cover them with sticky blue,
and then it might cry boo hoo

And what shall I do with the moon?
the day said, the day said
pull it away to the other side
when it comes back well see if it’s cried

And what shall I do with the people
the day said, the day said
wake them up and give them a cup
I hope it does not make them blow up

there came a night
that took overday
pushed It away
hid the sun

There came a day- by Gretel

There came a day a where a ball travelled the pitch
The redness blinding
Took a gulp.
And bounced

In the middle of this oval
He took a breath and swung his bat
Landing on a single hat
The crowd went wild.

Why the face? Why the face?
It was the one that hurt.
Half a smile.
What was the other half?

He got carried off.
A match never forgotten
But in the back of his mind
It was the single hat.

He had to get out
put his foot down a take a swing
padded up again since that day
There came a day, There came a day

There came a day when it was raining TACOS by Takehisa

When the white cloud came
A little colourful thing came down,
slowly, slowly and slowly
It bumped my head hard,
Really hard

It felt bigger than a car crashing on my head
I cried and cried
It was a taco,
raining,

Felt very strange,
Ate all of them
I was hungry

Now all of those,
Are GONE In The WORLD…

There was another day
That it was raining tacos

I was surprised,
Really surprised,
I couldn’t eat them,
Because I ate a lot of them Last Week!

There came a day by Molly D

There came a day when  the clouds took over the sky
from cloudy
to cloudier
and cloudier

And what shall I do with sun?
the clouds said, the clouds said
Cover it up, Cover it up
Let no light shine through

And what shall I do with sky?
The clouds said, The clouds said
fly over it, fly over it
let there be no blue in the sky

And what shall I do with the people
The clouds said, the clouds said
keep them inside, keep them inside
the kids will thank me for that!

There came a day when the clouds took over the sky
But it's time to say goodbye to the clouds
And say hello to storm
The storm said, the storm said.

There came a day by Emma R

There came a day when summer closed her eyes went to sleep and autumn woke up.

Now what shall I do with people?
The day said, the day said
wrap them up warm and stuff them with apple pie they will never forget me till the day they die.

And what shall I do with the sky?
The day said The day said
take away the blue and white and paint it gray.

And what shall do with trees?
The day said, the day said
strip off the leaves and they will freeze stuff them in a heap.

There came a day and it was autumn his tail was a puddle.

  1. The snow day by Alexandra
    the trees are green
    the sun, the sun
    is shining, glistening
    like a light burning
    hot sparks flew down
    on this freezing ground
    sky, sky so bright
listen to the sound of hail
    clouds, clouds
stop hailing on this poor town
    sun, sun
    don’t go away
you make this town so happy and bright
    the sun comes back
    you turned
    this town bright.
