This is the head of Tangaroa, God of the sea.
There has been print making, digital artworks, mobiles and kowhaiwhai as well as these large Kaitiaki figures, designed to resemble carvings. The work will stand up to 3 metres tall when completed.
We wanted to make figures which would help to protect and look after the land and the good work which is being done by the Predator Free groups operating on the peninsula.
This is the body of Tūmatauenga, God of people.
Which Kaitiaki does this mouth belong too?
